The primary criteria for choosing compact binoculars is their very small size. They will fit in a purse, glove compartment or coat pocket. All come with a carrying case with belt loop to carry on your waist. Note that the smaller lens opening allows significantly less light to reach your eye than full sized binoculars do so if you do a lot of nature observation at dawn, dusk or under the canopy of thick foliage they may not give you the necessary light gathering ability to make out details that might help you better identify your subject. In this case you would be better off going up in size to mid or full size binoculars however, if you really have your heart set on compact binoculars choose from the top shelf!
