Magnification 10x or more

10x magnification is most often preferred by hawk, waterfowl and shorebird watchers. It is generally considered the highest magnification that you can comfortably hold for long term observation. Many birding binoculars at our shop come in an 8x and 10x configuration. While the 10x offers a closer view the trade off needs to also be considered. Compared with the 8x you will get a narrower field of view, slightly lower relative brightness and in a side-by-side comparison you may notice that the sharpness of the image falls off slightly at the outer edge of your subject view.
